Interfaith Action Update: Changes, Accomplishments, Challenges; Potential Ways to Collaborate – hybrid service

Presenter: Rev. Phillip Romine Moderator: Huron Smith

Interfaith Action had been a strong supporter of Groveland UU Fellowship over the many years that we held church services in their former location at Summit Avenue in Saint Paul. Shortly before they moved out of their Summit location, they hired Rev. Phillip Romine as their Congregational Engagement Coordinator. As Congregational Engagement Coordinator, Phil focuses on building and deepening relationships between houses of worship and the needs of community partners. During his presentation to Groveland, Phil will explain the community issues that Interfaith has chosen to confront, and the challenges and prospects for collaboration that the organization faces. We will also have the opportunity to discuss with him how Groveland and Interfaith Action can work together.

Prior to Interfaith Action, Phil served in roles at Valley Community Presbyterian Church and Central Presbyterian Church, one of Interfaith Action’s partner. He also was Director of Admissions at United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities and worked with incredible colleagues and students for more than six years at the Higher Education Consortium for Urban Affairs (HECUA), supporting students through transformative educational experiences.

Phil is ordained as a Christian pastor in the PC(USA) denomination. He earned dual master’s degrees from United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities. In his spare time, you can find him at parks with his children and spouse, gardening, homebrewing beer, or planning his next trip to visit his wider family in Germany.
