GROVELAND UNITARIAN UNIVERSALIST
FELLOWSHIP BYLAWS
Article I – Name
The name of this religious organization is Groveland Unitarian Universalist Fellowship.
Article II – Purpose
The purpose of this fellowship is contained in its current mission statement:
Our mission is to be a mutually supportive and inclusive community, which fosters individual spiritual growth and inspires its members to do good works in the world.
This mission statement will be superseded by any new mission statement without amendment.
Article III – Membership
Any person may become a voting member of this fellowship who is in sympathy with its purpose and program; is 16 years of age or older, and has signed the membership book. All members are encouraged to attend a Unitarian Universalist orientation provided by the fellowship. Membership is open to all persons regardless of race, color, gender, sexual orientation or national origin.
A membership may be denied or cancelled for: death; a member’s own request; one year of inactivity and non-attendance; or by a two-thirds (2/3) vote by the active membership for actions that threaten the well being of the congregation as a whole.
Article IV – Dissolution
Should this Fellowship be dissolved, all assets will be transferred to MidAmerica Region or its successor. If there is no MidAmerica Region or legal successor, the proceeds will be conveyed to the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee.
Article V – Officers
The Officers of the fellowship are President (Chairperson), President-Elect, Secretary and Treasurer and are elected at the annual meeting in June by and from the congregation. These officers hold their offices for one year and until successors are selected. All officers must be 18 years old and active members of the fellowship.
Article VI – Meetings
The annual business meeting is held each year in June at such time and place as designated by the President (Chairperson). The President (Chairperson) may call a special business meeting at any time. Other meetings of the congregation are determined by the officers or by the congregation. Meeting agendas will be set forth five (5) days before a called meeting. Twenty (20) percent of the active membership constitutes a quorum.
Article VII – Fiscal Year
The fiscal year ends June 30.
Article VIII – Amendments
These bylaws may be amended or replaced at any meeting of the fellowship by a 2/3 majority of the active members. Notice of any proposed change must be contained in the notice of that meeting.
